Cricket Legends Lunch, Dockside, Darling Harbour

Greg Matthews forecasts England to win the upcoming Ashes series in Australia 2-1 at Cricket Legends Lunch.
Greg Matthews dropped this bombshell at the Cricket Legends Lunch where cricketers are not only famous for their sport but for also being staunch supporters of the famous cricket lunch held annually to support the Northcott Disability Services.
This cricketaholics lunch is an institution in Sydney and one that stump lovers wouldn’t miss. Now in it’s 14th year it was held again at Dockside, Darling Harbour.
Mike Whitney M.C.’d the action packed afternoon doing a terrific job with the panel discussion that covered the insider views of the 2009-2010 cricket season plus some damn good yarns.
Auctions at fundraisers can struggle somewhat these days but not this one, with enthusiastic bidders continuously outbowling each other. A buyer (who wished not to be named) paid $1,200 for a signed cricket bat then gifted it to Melissa O’Hehir whose smile could have light up the SCG. Clutching mini bats and stumps attendees circled the room to adding cricketer signatures to these one off collectors items.
Many at the lunch were surprised to learn that the Northcott Foundation that provides so much for those with severe disabilities and their families, receives minimal government funding. Therefore the support of the right royal guys and gals of Cricket NSW, the Dockside Group for their venue and delicious lunch and the excellent wines provided by Robert Stein Wines is invaluable in continuing this great tradition – good on ya guys – well done.
Fabulous company, venue, lunch, wines and a load of fun. If you would like to meet your ’Cricket Legend’ (each table has one) get some mates together (or come alone – you won’t stay that way) mark it down for next year. Contact the Northcott Disability Services for tickets.
